Fern Coste Spies:

Hi,

I would like to get in touch with Bob Sheffield, Jean's husband. If someone has their new Florida address, I would like to send Bob and family a note. Jean and I were good friends in high school and our friendship continued when she lived in Holbrook. We do day trips through our travel agency and Bob used to drive the bus for some of our trips.

Thanks.

Pat Brida Soderman:

Hi all, It's Me,Pat Brida Soderman. I just jumped into the 21st. Century and got a lap top. I began looking at the pictures of all my friends and all the great memories at Sachem . It will take a little time for me to learn the computer. First the cell phone now this. In September I'm going to take 3 two hour classes at the Sachem library. Gotta keep that short term memory going, ha ha I have lots of photos but first I have to get a printer and also learn how to send and receive. Please tell me how to get E mails of my former Class of 1960 friends.

Thanks,

Annette Colmer Doyle Recalls Confraternity!
Oh yes, I read every single blog the first night I found it and then some again, later - Somehow I ended up making a blog for myself - don't really know how I did that, though - I do know that I put info on the
Classmates.com site also -
*
I would love to hear from anyone who remembers me - I was so quiet then (compared to now) that I can't imagine too many people really knew who I was.
*
I remember confraternity dances so well - I loved to cha cha and of course, we all wanted to dance with you and Bob Turoff! Richard Williams and I were really like best friends, but he didn't go to confraternity.

I did get the email list, thank you. I remember Jackie and John dancing the lindy at Hollywood Beach - they had such great routines - but she's a phenomenal dancer anyway! I did get the 58 PJHS reunion also - thanks

Joanie Lalla Gerson:
Hi Ben,
Thanks for the storm picture. We did get the rains from Hurricane Bill up here in the Poconos.
I am confused. Fern said that Mama Lombardi's had to be booked a year in advance which brings us to August 2010. John said something about looking into music for the event. All we need is to have an organizer to secure a motel or hotel for us out -of- towners. A Long Island reunion would bring more people than some of the others, so it makes sense to have a small committee rather than just one person as long as they keep in touch with each other. It also makes sense to have a year to plan for it and spread the word. I was excited about the idea, even though it would be later.
I am also anxious to get together as are Marilyn and Bill so if there is a Florida contingency going out to Montauk this year, I will definitely make an effort to be there. By the way, the Poconos are very nice in September too!

Fern Coste Spies:

There are several people from the class of '60 that we are missing. They are Eileen Flynn, Ann Dolan, Gwen Brantley, Arthur Busch and Ken Brady, Jean Johannsen and Marge Kirchner.

Anyone know where these people are.

Hi Everyone,

September 1st is only a week away and it appears that we still do not have anyone taking the lead in organizing our reunion. I am sure it seems overwhelming to plan a week of activities. It might be better if someone from Long Island could arrange a one night reunion event and those of us coming in from out of state could make our own arrangements to get together. Some of us would love to spend time out East in the Hamptons. One thing I would love to do is spend one evening at the Casa Bosso in West Hampton to see John Cassese. I looked at some hotels in the Hamptons on line and found September to be a good month because of less crowds and lower rates especially after September 15th. (Bill Monteverde had suggested a September reunion earlier in the Blog). We could then push the deadline to October 1st for someone to start planning.

Class of '60, I would hate to see our 50th anniversary go by without some sort of get together.

Storm Video taken in Milton Florida during a storm. Pay special attention to the lightning at the beginning of this video. If you listen carefully you might be able to hear the boater say "Oh what are we doing here!" Just kidding!

News From Way Back Home on Long Island!
On our usual mondane Sunday afternoon ride, we "got" more than we planned on! The remnants of Hurricane Bill, that passed near Long Island, generated huge waves and a flood tide.

On route to having dinner near the Shinacock Inlet, along Dune Road, we experienced the following adventure! It was fun!

Judi ;)
And what were you doing out wandering around in all of that?
I wonder if this was the storm that spawned a tornado in downtown Toronto and another 30 miles north of it last week.

John Hall (class of '61):
This flooding on Dune Road is not uncommon and not only because of Hurricane Bill. Throughout the year flooding has occurred from the bay side (both Quantuck and Shinnecock Bays) from Ponquogue Bridge West to Beach Lane in Westhampton Beach are overflowing. As long a we have high tide and a full moon, my duck blind will have over two feet of water in it.
