===================================
This photo was taken at the Site of Hollywood Beach, Lake Ronkonkoma, NY.

The pavilion has been taken down and replaced with a parking lot and utility building.
*
I can still recall the many stairs that we had to climb, in order to get to the main pavilion level. Upon arriving at the top I can still visualize the picnic style tables, the wooden dance floor, the Bar, and the stairs that went to the beach. Many things have changed and the Pavilion has been torn down!
*
From my current vantage point in time, I look back Fifty Years to the wonderful days that I spent at Lake Ronkonkoma. In spite of the demolition, my mental picture of the Hollywood Pavilion, remains absolutely clear! So!!!!!!! Nothing has really changed after all.

The attached photo was taken about a week ago while I was in New York

Hello everyone
Its been over 50 years since I've seen most of you. I joined the Navy after completing my junior year at Sachem. After boot camp and a service school at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center, I found myself attending another service school in Albuquerque New Mexico. That's where I met the woman who would become my wife. I spent the next three years aboard ship in the western pacific.

My wife and I married in the summer of 1961 and wound up having three children, two boys and a girl. One boy is the oldest of the three and one the youngest. My oldest lives in Hendersonville North Carolina with his wife and two children their third child lives in Denver with her husband and two children. My daughter lives in Hillsboro Oregon with her husband and three children. My youngest son lives here in Albuquerque. He is still looking for the right woman to share his life.

After being discharged from the Navy, I took a job with the telephone company here. I wasn't happy with that career path and left after two years. I then went to work for EG&G. I stayed with them for the next 34 years, most of which I spent traveling. Most of that time was spent on programs doing nuclear weapons effects testing. I was able to attend school while working there although the travel made it a little difficult. I finally did graduate after almost 20 years and three different schools. I finished at the college of Santa Fe. After retiring from them I tried to stay at home. I was eventually recruited by a small local company named Fiore Industries. There I was involved in development and testing high power microwave sources. I retired again from them after six and a half years. Soon after my second retirement I was asked to go back to EG&G where I still work part time doing business development.

I recently visited relatives and friends in the Lake Ronkonkoma area. It had been far too long since I had been there and I was amazed to see how much it had changed since I lived there. I had a very nice visit with Mary and Ed Short. Ed was kind enough to make some calls to others to get me reintroduced. I saw Tony Prince, John Cassese and had dinner with Ken Muzzonigro.

I am looking forward to next years reunion and reestablishing a connection with other old friends.

Regards
Joe Hoffman
