Teacher Rodney Stall

Retired Teacher From Sachem

I just met a retired teacher from Sachem High School! Rodney Stall was a teacher at Sachem, when we attended high school! He said that he did not have anyone from the class of 1959 in his class; Rodney generally taught math to students in the lower grades. Mr. Stall did speak fondly of Tom Sabatelle, John Cassese, and John Anselmo. Rod was in the Math Department, and was also the Track Coach. I would not venture to guess his age, but he looked great, was high spiritd, and was a very interesting person to talk to.

Rodney Stall also mentioned that Mrs. Hodel is living in Florida; wouldn't it be great to hear from her!

John Cassese Said:

I remember Rod very well. I did not have him for math but he was the track coach and a great one at that. I'm so glad to hear that he is well and would love to send him a note...how do I do that? P.S. I remember John DelCore also...he was the goalie on our soccer team for a while and did a great job at it. I wonder what he is doing these days. Thanks for the news...John

Judi Belden Lloyd Said:

I do believe that I had Mr. Stall for Algebra (which I took as a Senior actually). If I remember correctly I had a 100 on the final or Regents, but he gave me a 99 (because he did not believe in 100's0. The reason he took a point off was because I had spelled my name wrong. (And I had - left a letter off or out or something in my haste/nervousness)

I CANNOT believe that Mrs. Hodul is still alive. Did he mention where in Florida?

Ben Vitale Said:

Judi
John Cassese is trying to contact Mr. Stall. When he does we might possibly be able to get more information about Mrs Hodel. There was a group of students from SACHEM that administered a "Sachem Alumni Web Site." This web site also had a section which allowed one to find out where our teachers are currently living. The site is no longer available! I cannot find it! The group was called the "Web Singers." If you can find the site let me know!!!!!!

I am 64 now, Both Mr. Stall and Mrs. Hodel, must be about 22 years older then me if they were teachers at Sachem in 1959. I wouldn't be too surprised; people with "active minds," generally live much longer than those who choose to be sedentary! I admire people such as Mr. Stall; because they are "out there," enjoying life, and not feeling sorry for themselves! I met him at a Wine and Cheese Craft Fair!

Was just checking the blog. The first photo is of Diane Kaffka, and Roseann Garite.

The one on the bus, is Les Terry. Diane Kaffka and Roseann Garite. It does look like John Scalfani, but its Les....

I was the one that took all those pictures. But the ones in the house Party...I can't remember where it was or why we were there. Ask John Cassese...since he was cutting the cake in one of the photos. Maybe he can remember?

Gail Tierney Griffith Said:
I haven't the slightest idea of who those fellows are. The only one I recognize is Charlie Lee. I wonder if he is still lawyering in Las Vegas. I'll try to dig out my yearbook one of these days and get a better look. Are the pictures really yellowed?-----------------------------------------

Ben Said:
Hi Gail
John Cassese and I cannot figure out who tho two "guys" are! The last two photos should not be "yellowed;" the photos of the Sachem Buses should be yellowed. When I send the pages to you via ordinary email, all formatting is lost. Is it possible for the colors to change? yes.

I haven't heard a word from Charlie Lee recently; but I may look him up the next time I go to Las Vegas. I did not know that he lived there! thanks for the information!

A Message From Judi Belden Lloyd

The Two Joys In My Life

Hi, I love this blog and getting notices when a new entry is put on. It's great to read about what people from our classes are doing these days, see their pictures, hear about the 'old' days. Do you believe we're getting Medicare information???? And the other day I received information from BC/BS on Medicare supplemental insurance. Aaaargh!!!! Surely not me!! I am enclosing a picture of the two joys in my life these days. Could someone please move the Canadian border closer to NC., but just don't include the winter weather when you do it though.
Judi (Belden) Lloyd

Visit Report

Precious Friends and Precious Memories

Just wanted you to know , Pauline and I had a great time. She was only able to stay one day. Her niece lives in Shirley and Pauline was going to visit her on Saturday.

We looked through my old album , with photos from a trip to Jones Beach and The Patchogue Roller rink...We sure had a good laugh. I had old matchbook covers, paper napkins, stirrers, a corsage,(from the Senior Prom),greeting cards(from boyfriends)and some other memorabilia. I still save everything! The clothes and the hair styles made us chuckle. Also went through the photos of the class reunions I had sent to you for the Blog. We talked about the "Old Days" and those special guys that stole our hearts. Also those trips to the Hamptons in her little sports car and My 1959 Corvette, Our trip to Patchogue on Saturdays and our ferry ride to Fire Island on Sundays.

So great to have those special memories to share with someone I have known for 50 years! Where did the time go? We may have the old bodies now, but those memories we cherish brought us back to our teenage years.

I'm hoping to get together again with her, before she leaves for Florida.
Love Camille
