Profile Joan Giardina Mathieu:

Hi,
It’s been close to 50 years since we graduated! I’m Joan Giardina Mathieu and since I’m not computer savvy, I’m writing you.
My sister Deanna Giardina Mauch had said that you emailed her and asked for synapses of what I’ve been up to over the years.
Here Goes:
I was an Air Force Wife and have two children, Crystal Ann (48) and Gene (45); three grandchildren, James, Shelby, LeAnn, and Nina.
As a military family we were stationed in Germany (Hans A.F. Base); Klamath Falls, Oregon; Victorville California; Cheyanne, Wyoming; and Tehran, Iran, before coming to Colorado Springs. Have been living in the Springs ever since.
Tehran was quite an adventure to say the least. Luckily we left before the civil unrest became full blown.
I was employed as a secretary and / or Book Keeper for a number of years.
I have a beautiful view of the Rocky Mountains from my patio, although I still miss not living by the Ocean.
Best wishes to the Graduating Class of 1959! The years have gone by too quickly!

When I saw Mr. Cario's picture among Tony Perna's photos, I remembered that I cut out an article from the SARASOTA HERALD TRIBUNE which appeared about two years ago that I tucked away in my Sachem yearbook. All of us who thought fondly of Mr. Cario as a teacher and a coach will enjoy seeing this updated photo and newspaper article.

Comment from John Cassese.
I can't tell you how thrilled I was to see this picture. Sam and I still stay in touch, but I did not know it was his 50th. I will contact him and hope to connect him with the blog. He will love it. I spoke with Tom Paranelli...class of 60. he remembers you well and knew that your family lived on Ackerly. I brought him up to date on the blog and spoke to him about a possible reunion. You blog continues to knit the classes together and melt away the years.
Thanks
Comment from Ben:
Deanna deserves all of the credit for saving the photo! The Blog by itself would be just an empty book, without the contributions from our classmates. "Anyhow," it's fun to be a bookkeeper!"

Marylin and Maryanne have Mini Reunion at the Yellow Dog Cafe!

Hi,
April 3, 2009 I had the pleasure of reuniting with Maryanne Castiglione Bissett in Melbourne FL. My husband Don & I got together with Maryanne and her husband John Bissett (Gwen's brother) along with Maryanne's cousin Frank Locarriere (class of 61) and his wife Diane for a great lunch at the Yellow Dog Cafe which is on the river in Malabar. Then we had fun shopping in Melbourne.
Maryanne and I were good friends in high school and had not seen each other since the 20th reunion which was 30 years ago.
It is because of this Blog that we were able to find each other. Thank you so much Ben for all the time you spend keeping it current.
1st picture is Frank and Diane
2nd picture is John, Maryanne, Marylin and Don
3rd picture is of Maryanne and Marylin

Bob Kemmler located our group with the help of Jerry Schmitt:
Hi,
my name is Bob Kemmler, class of 62 Sachem High. I know of no blogs for the Alumni . I live in Maryland and visit L.I. about once a year. I've asked a few class mates if our class is going to have a 50 year reunion, but so far there doesn't seem to much interest. If you hear of anything please contact me at r551@verizon.net. Maybe if a few classes hold a reunion all at the same time, just a thought.
Enjoy the coming summer....
Bob
Jerry Schmitt:
(Jerry is helping our group locate Sachem Alumni who may be trying to find our group through Facebook. Jerry posted the following article.)

If you are not sure who I am,I left in August 1959 when I joined the US Navy.I lived on Hawkins Avenue in Lake Grove near Moriches Ave.I had been very active in the school chorus and nothing much else !Am presently living near Niagara Falls ( City of Tonawanda ).I can see the Niagara River out my back window. My house is almost 90yrs old but certainly doesn't look it! We have 8 kids ( 7 girls & 1 boy ) all married and 19 grandchildren. Three of the girls live in California, the rest near us. My wife and I are retired and we try to get to Ca. once a year. We are presently waiting for spring weather which usually doesn't get here until early May !
