NEWS FROM WAY BACK HOME IN NEW YORK
*
The following three photos were taken at Cupsogue Beach, in Westhampton, on January 18, 2010.
The first photo was taken from the Pier at Cupsogue Beach. I love photos of the surf; I find them so refreshing! For you alumni that reside down south, just turn down your Air Conditioner to 40 degrees, "left click" the photo; and the magic will happen! Ha!!!!!! Help send this boy to camp in Orlando! Its cold on the beach in January!

The second photo is an animated version of the first photo; taken at a slow shutter speed. (left click the photo)

One cant help reading a message into this next photo!
I would say:
"A women returns to the fun location of her youth!" This women is my wife Marie; we have been married for 46 years.
The real message:
"Its too cold on the beach; im standing under the alcove to keep warm. Come get me when your finished!"

OK! The HMS Honda once again sails down the Duneroad River, toward the Shinacock Inlet. (left click the photo)
*
From my vantage point on the Duneroad River, I see an object that looks like that the battleship that was built by the Germans; I believe it was called the Bismark.
Please "left click" the photo below to reveal what appears to be a door, on the starboard side of the vessel. I am absolutely sure that this is where all of the East End Men, hide from their wives every weekend. I would bet this vessel has a beer cooler, and an HD TV!

ReplyDeleteBen,
ReplyDeleteAt first glance I thought it was a duck blind, but the more I look at it, the more I realize you are correct, it is a beverage station. You are also correct that it was part of the Bismark. I remember seeing this when reading the book Sink The Bismark. There are photos of this precise beverage station on page 183. It is a Tiki bar; a gift from the Japanese Emperor in celebration of the Bismark's maiden voyage.
Ben, thanks for discovering this rare piece of history in or own back yard and for continuing to educate me. Mr. Muvich would be proud.
Best regards,
Tom Parrinelli
P.S. Rumor has it that the east end husbands do hang out there on weekends.
