My guess would be Barbara Millevolte, but I could be wrong. It looks like all four of them are holding on to keep themselves from sliding down the embankment.
Keep up the good work. Mike Mahoney
.
Gail Tierney Griffith Said:
I agree with Mike. I didn't learn to swim until I was 39. At WaterBabies. Pretty humiliating when your class mates are 3 year olds.

"Who is this guy?" He actually has a full head of hair!
I can't believe it!
I don't believe that you "will see" this Guy, at the Mini Reunion; then again with a pitcher full of Pina Coladas, you just might! I'm getting so bad! Ha Ha I haven't seen this guy "around" for many years!
.
Patty Perkins Wrote:
HOT! HOT! HOT!!!!

John Cassese Said:
Hey Ben, great photo...you look like Vincent Prince and John Travolta...Best, John
.
Ben Vitale Said:
John always said that I looked like Vincent Price; however as I recall Vincent Price played in the "House of Usher!" I wonder if he's trying to tell me something! Ha! Ha!
.
Camille Pelliccia Said:
Hi Ben.....WOW, that photo was more than Hot! I remember that guy...and also had a crush on him!!!!! I especially remember him wearing a white turtle neck one day in school....Something about a turtle neck shirt that was so cool looking then...(You were in my Art class.)
You made my day.
Love Camille
.
Ben Vitale Said:
I actually got ten years younger, when Patty made her comment about my Photo, I then got an additional ten years younger, when Camille commented about my photo. If you gals keep it up, that guy may actually show-up at John's Band Reunion! Ha! Ha!
.
John Vitale Said:
Hey,
I remember that guy, that's my brother with hair !
Have a Happy Birthday Benny !

Reflections
Most of you do not know my personal criteria for friendship! Old friends like John, Patty, and Camille do! A friend is someone who calls you up once a year, to see if your "Dead or Alive!" Damned! Simple, but my valuable friends do remember to contact me occasionally, just to say hello!
.
What is life about? Life is about family and friends, who have shared many wonderful experiences! If you think about someone, they really should be part of your life! No person or situation should force you to put people, that are very much alive in your mind, into your closet! Somehow we have managed to "Keep in Touch," for almost fifty years! Contact with old friends is very valuable to me!
.
This Blog surprisingly turned out to be a mechanism that allows our old crowd to interact as a group, just as we did in the fifties, and sixties! I believe that this type of social interaction, is important to all of us! There is really something special about keeping in contact with old friends!

SENIOR SLOP DAY

I do not know who the first female is in this photo? Camille says that it is Pauline! But what does she know; she only took this photo! Just kidding!

Ben Vitale Said:
OK John
If your reunion falls on June 16, I will be working June 17 from 2 PM to 6 PM unfortunately that excludes me from helping with the Fire Island leg of the Reunion, if it is held on Sunday. I must call and make sure that that job is still there; it has been in my book for a year! My concern is not for me but for our classmates that may have trouble dealing with the Davis Park Ferry, parking fiasco!
.
John Cassese Said:
Ben, I think the e-mail and your help will be much appreciated by many. I would like to do my part in the planning. I have been reluctant because I'm also swamped and don't want to do a sloppy job on this, but i would like to try. I will be in Philadelphia all day and into the evening tomorrow, but I will call you on Monday to get rolling. Thanks, John
.
Joe Singlar Said:
Sorry, Ben and All,
I will not be coming to the Sachem 2007 Reunion. I hope you all have a wonderful time. Lots of luck, Joe

Who will be at the Lloyd Roberts Quintet Reunion Concert this coming June?
So far John Cassese will be playing with the Band.
Camille Pelliccia said she will be there.
Ben Vitale will attend.
Joan Lala Garson will attend.
Brenda Sichenzia will attend.
Marylin Giove Chion ?
Judi Beldon Lloyd Said:
Do you have Fern (Coste) Spies e-mail? class of 1963. She might know of some things that could be included in a reunion - picnic somewhere or something. Can we assume that John's band will be playing on a Sat evening? Perhaps a beach/lake outing on Sat during day - with contingency if raining - like bowling/lunch/ whatever, a breakfast together Sun AM. When we went down for the gala we stayed at the Holiday Inn near the airport - Very convenient to things, and not far from Farmingville/Ronkonkoma, etc.

How about a tour of the High School - which is now a junior high?
John Cassese Said:
Hi everyone, it would be great if we could all get together...Our band reunion is looking like the third Saturday of June...not totally set yet but will keep you posted. We had fun last year...hoping for the same this year. I think we would be available for a Florida reunion inthe Fall...sounds like a great idea. Best, John
Marylin Giove Chion Said:
Hi Everyone, Is there a date yet for the LRQ reunion for June? My family and I will be in Hilton Head SC the first part of June 07 but Don and I could possibly come if it is at the end of June. I would still like to see another reunion around October or Novemberin Florida. The weather is great and the crowds are gone. Walt Disney World would be a great place to have it and I could see about getting group rates if anyone is interested. As far as I am concerned, the more times we can go back to being sixteen years old again the better. It is good for us! And Ben, thanks for the BLOG.Marylin
John Cassese suggested:
Any alumni that attended the LRQ Reunion, could plan additional events, if they so desired! John mentioned that a Small group, would have no trouble getting a table at the Pine Grove Inn, for dinner. The PGE has tables outside, under a tent. There is usually a band and a pay bar. I have personally been at this restaurant, and have had a great time at this outdoor restaurant. Any Ideas?

Richard Williams Said:
BEN: I CAN'T DO A JUN07 TRIP TO NEW YORK. PATTY, GEORGE PECK, CHRIS AND SOME OTHERS FROM CENTEREACH (MY COUSIN, PAUL, TOO) ARE PLANNING A WEEKEND IN MAR07 AT COCOA BEACH FL. HAVE A NEICE GRADUATING FROM UNIVERITY IN MAY-JUN. TOO MUCH EXPENSES TO DO LRQ. JOHN GALLERY SUGGESTED A 2009 REUNION TO MARK 50 YEARS (ON LI) WHAT SAY YOU? THANKS SO MUCH FOR LL YOUR PIC AND NEWS. RICH.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR OUR CONSIDERATION
Joan Lala Garson Said:
I think it would be great if someone would host a reunion on Long Island concurrent with John's band reunion. Many of us who live in the south were looking to go up north for a reunion in order to see people we haven't seen at the last few get-together. Priscilla may be still working on it, but it would then be in Florida again. My husband and I will probably be in the Poconos for the summer and would love to come to L. I . for a reunion.

Lloyd Roberts 2007

Lloyd Roberts Quintet Reunion 2007

Tentative Plans are Being Made to host Lloyd Roberts Quintet Reunion 2007, in the month of June 2007, possibly the last weekend. The location would be the same as last year, in Farmingville, Long Island, NY; at the Flaming Hearth.

You will be notified as soon as the actual date is set!

Once again we have the opportunity to re-live the Seventies, in the year 2007. As we get older we develop the ability to both look at people, and also totally comprehend the message that their body language, and facial expressions are telling us. You don't really need words to understand what the people in the above photo, who were attending LRQ Reunion 2006, are thinking. I was there, behind the camera that took this photo, and can attest to the feeling of nostalgia that engulfed the entire audience.

Wouldn't it be great if a few of our fellow Alumni would attend!

Camille Pelliccia said that she would attend, and I will be attending. John Casesse the organizer of this event, will be there performing with the Band.

You must check-out the review, and comments, from LRQ Reunion 2006. Just click the link below this line!

Brenda Sichenzia Said:

Hi Ben. Are there any motels near the event? We are travelling from Pennsylvania.

Ben Vitale Said:

Brenda
I'm glad that you will be attending the event. John's "Lloyd Roberts Quintet Reunion 2007," only lasts for four hours! It would be great if a Class Reunion could take place concurrent with John's event! I think that there is still hope for the "Sachem Class Reunion," to be held on Long Island! I think Priscilla is still working on the reunion!

A yahoo search for "Motel, Farmingville, NY, 11738, gave the following page. I observed that the 112 Motel is "Unrated." I wonder why it isn't rated? I would bet the Hampton Inn, in Farmingville is not that expensive!

I hope this link works, when I send it to you!

Joan Lala Gerson Said:

Right now I am in California visiting my son and avidly following what is going on with our alumni so I can make plans for the summer/fall. I definitely will be at the band reunion. I remember going to the Flaming Hearth when we lived in the area. I can't say I could volunteer to help organize a reunion but may be able to make myself available if others needed help.

Thanks for the blog. It helps us all to reconnect and feel like teenagers again for a few minutes.

Pauline Chickie and Lorraine

I haven't heard a word about Chickie Marquez, or Lorraine Muller since high school; has anyone been in contact with either of them?

(Left Click to see a larger photo)
Ben Vitale Said:
"Why do I ask?" I went to the Class of 1959 Prom with Lorraine, and the Class of 1960 Prom, with Chickie! Two "World Class" Gals!"

Richard Williams Said:

I DON'T REMEMBER ANY OF THOSE THREE PRETTY GIRLS. MUST REALLY BE GETTING OLD.

Ben Vitale Said:
Richard and I both had the same problem in 1959; we both had eyes that could not see!! Ha! Ha! Just kidding! Richard, Patty Perkins, and I are "retreads," from Port Jefferson High School. Richard "hung-out," with Patty and Joan Yunazzo. All of us rode on the bus to Port Jefferson every day for three years! What a drag! But the good part is that we did talk "a lot."
Joan Lala Garson Said:
Hi Ben,

Love your blog spot and all the old memories it brings back. I have a photo of the class of '61 at the Bavarian Inn reunion but I'm not sure how to get it to you since I don't have a scanner.

I also have pictures taken a couple of years ago on the Princess cruise reunion as well as a luncheon that I organized the following January. There were about 13 of us from class of '61 at the luncheon.

The picture of the 5th grade class at Holbrook Elementary School contained one of the guys at the luncheon, Steve Steidel. Mitchell Strumpf was also a good friend of mine in high school and we were both voted "most musical" in our yearbook. I believe Mitch is still in Malowi, Africa where he had done some work in the peace corp.

I'd love to see more of the class of '61 come out of the woodwork. Thanks for keeping the home fires burning.

Thanks for sending me the Sachem information, I never had school spirit even when I served on the Sachem Board of Education. Looking at all the classmates photos makes me feel, maybe they weren't such bad times.

John Cassese

By Popular Demand! John Cassese Appears at the Pine Grove Inn, on New Years Eve!

Your friend and fellow Alumni from the class of 1960, John Cassese, has been very active in the "Entertainment Scene," ever since High School. John's musical adventure started in 1956, when he played with the Satin Tones during his early high school years. He then played with the Lloyd Roberts Quintet; a band that brought new meaning to the word Entertainment! With a mammoth following, this band has endured the test of time; etching recollections of "Great Times," into our hearts and minds! John's Musical Adventure has now progressed to Night Club Entertainment. Along with a diverse group of vocalists and musicians, John continues to do, "with a passion," what he most loves to do! Entertain!
