Alumnae Pauline Millavolte and Camille Pelliccia spend a Day in Eastern Long Island!:
(Both are from the Sachem Class of 1960)

Pauline and I had a wonderful time yesterday in Sag Harbor.
The morning started with rain, but it wasn't going to stop me from meeting her. It's and hour ride from my condo.
I met her at her Son's apartment in town. What a great place! It's above a store, and with the windows open, you can hear the hustle and bustle of the shoppers below. What a quaint town.
Great little gift shops, Gourmet stores, and pleasant people, greeting you as you walk into the shops. Mostly looked, prices a little steep for us, and we laughed when we saw the price tags! Years ago we would purchase 5 blouses for the price of this one little tank top! $48.00, Wheew......
They did have a parade, Pauline and I were eating Calzone and pizza inside a nice Italian Restaurant. We did go outside to the sidewalk at the time of the Harley Davidson Motorcycle, costume run. and for the Fire department marching by.. Then Our calzone was being served.
The sun finally came out, and we drove to Montauk Point, and walked along the dock, where the fishing boats were in and cleaning there catch.Nice Stripped bass! We asked a fishermen to take a picture of us.. Hoping to send it to the Blog, once I get it developed. (Don't own a digital camera, still like the old way of getting the photos in the mail.)
The time passed so quickly. But what a fun day! just reminiscing about the "old days" and our lives today. She lives in Port saint Lucy,Florida and is enjoying her retirement. Says she has a full calendar. Good for her!
As we walked through Sag Harbor, we met a few of Pauline's Neighbors, When she introduced me, and said we were friends for 50 years, Wow, where did those years go?...In a blink of the eye time has passed, and here we are still the best of friends, what more can you ask for?
We said our good byes, and I left with happy and sad feelings, wondering what the next year will bring our way. hoping that we will be blessed to meet again next year, if not sooner. Thank God for computers, and E- mail. We still keep in touch and hope to for a long time. She will be returning home on the 25th, and has a busy schedule with family and friends until then. Just so pleased we were able to share a day together.

Camille Pelliccia

Old Sachem Alumni Bulletin Board

A few weeks ago I sent an email to Sachem, inquiring about the decommissioned "Sachem Alumni Bulletin Board." This resource has been unavailable for about two years! As you may already know, it was the old "Sachem Bulletin Board" that enabled most of us to reconnect with with our classmates!

Soon after, a technical representative from Sachem, contacted me and explained that the webmaster was no longer employed at Sachem. This situation was further exasperated, by the Software Design Company, going bankrupt. The Software was no longer available! All was lost, including the database! "And Now the unthinkable!" The Server went up in smoke!

The prognosis was grim, and I abandoned any future contact with Sachem, relating to the possibility of once again, activating the "Sachem Alumni Bulletin Board."

While performing my normal Blog related Internet gymnastics, I discovered a Web Site that is labeled, "Sachem Alumni, Lake Ronkonkoma, NY. At first, this Site appeared to be a Sachem Web Site, but upon closer inspection, it appears that it is a new Alumni Site! I must admit that this site fooled me; IT LOOKED LIKE A SACHEM WEB SITE! I did enter my data into their database! This new site requires a $25. fee, in order to view the membership. They had no problem, tricking me into first giving them my personal data, before they told me that I must give them $25. in order to look at their database! This feels like Deja Vu!

Why am I surprised? Where have I seen this before? All of us should know by now, that Santa Clause is dead! I don't mean that literally! Santa is one of my favorite Pals! Ha! Ha! That is as long as he gives me lots of toys for Christmas! Yesssssssssssssssssssss!

So! The new site is:
http://www.alumniclass.com/sachem

The site that is still free is:
http://alumz.com/

The good news is that if you do a Google search for "Sachem class of" our Blog comes up as number six. We are not that difficult to locate!

A Google search for "Sachem class of 1960" will come up as number one! Yupeeeeeee!

Just for the fun of it, do a Google search on your name, and note where you appear in the returned list! The Blog will appear because your name is indexed by virtue of being listed in our Blog. "Would you believe?" You actually have a "World Wide Web" presence!" Yahoooooooooo!!!!!!!

Many people talk about the "Good Old Days!" Well they could have them! I really think that today's technology is "So Cool;" I would never trade it for the "Good Old Days!"

Have Fun

Ben

Reply From Marylin Giove Chion:

Hi Ben,

I tried it and it worked! Thank you for keeping up with our Sachem communication. It is so great to have the Blog and even though I do not participate very often, I always look forward to receiving the email from you with the new entries on the Blog. I especially enjoy Camille's pictures.

I wanted to get a few of the Florida people together for a weekend at the beach in November, but did not get much of a response. Don and I are at the beach almost every weekend from Thursday to Sunday, so if anyone wants to get together just email me at marylinc@cfl.rr.com. Maybe we can get something going after all. Next weekend we are looking forward to seeing Bill and Arlene Monteverde at Ormond Beach. Joan and George Gerson might be able to make it in November.

I hope everyone is well and happy and enjoying this stage of our lives.

Love, Marylin

Alumna Camille Pelliccia Had a Great Time at the Pine Grove Inn!
Ben Vitale
Members of the Sachem Alumni Group decided to have a spontaneous Mini Reunion, at the Pine Grove Inn. Our fellow alumni John Cassese was scheduled to play, at the "Pine Grove Inn, with the Lloyd Roberts Quintet.

Camille Pelliccia Class of 1960, and my wife Marie had a great time at that Summer Event.
It was a perfect "Cool Night." We were outside, near the Great South Bay, eating dinner, enjoying gourmet desserts, and drinking Margaretas; what could be better than that? The only thing that was missing was Jimmy Buffett! Ha! Ha!

During the course of the evening Andrew Cassese, got on stage, and performed for the group. Andrew then came over to my table, and talked with Camille, Marie, and I for about ten minutes. Camille was looking at Andrew with a puzzled look as if to say; where have I seen him before? Camille then told Andrew "What a talented family you have."Camille loved the Vocal Entertainment, but could not recognize Andrew Cassese! At that time Camille did not know exactly who she had just called "talented."

Often when a person is separated from his normal context, he often becomes a stranger!

Enough of the suspense! We all know Andrew Cassese! All we have to do is see him in his "Normal Context!" The photo below should help!

Andrew Cassese has Delighted Audiences on Stage, Screen, and Television.
The Photo below is from Andrews role in:
"Revenge of the Nerds I"
He later played in:
"Revenge of the Nerds II"
Also acted in the HBO Film called:
"Where or When"

On Broadway he acted in:
The play called "Nine"

He later acted in the:
Broadway Play called "Smile

Andrew acted in the Off Broadway Plays called:
"Christopher Blake"
"The Day Baby Ruth Died"
"Yossel and the Golden Dream"
"Oliver"
and:
"A Christmas Carol"
On TV he acted on the following TV Programs:
"Law and Order" shown on NBC
"TV-101"
"Read Between the Lines" Shown on ABC
"Sesamie Street"
"Facts of Life" Shown on NBC
"3-2-1-Contact"
Need I Say More?
You see him almost daily on TV Commercials!
Andrew will be appearing on the David Letterman Show, in a skit about "Security in the Office."

Andrew Cassese is enthusiastic about his tentative return to Broadway!
If and when this happens, our next Reunion should be in Manhattan!

Hi Ben,

I got home safely..and just wanted to thank you and Marie for such a pleasant evening...I enjoyed so much the conversation, and just being there to hear John and the band was so special. They were great! also hearing Johns son's sing , what a talented family! Looking forward to another evening listening to John. Thanks again for your company...I enjoyed the evening so very much..Its been a long time since I've gotten out. Will catch you again soon. on the Blog.
So nice to see Marie again.

Love Camille

Ken and Louise Dance-up a Storm at the Pine Grove!
Alumna Ken Muzzenigro, and his friend Louise are hard to keep down. I was really amazed when I saw Ken and Louise dancing. They looked like professional dancers. Ken is really active with our Alumni Group; he actually attended all of our Reunions, which took place across the country!

John Cassese Sachem class of 1960 Playing with members of the Lloyd Roberts Quintet.
This event was not LRQ Reunion 2007; this event may still come to pass? The evening excitement was further energized by the vocal appearance of Phillip Cassese, John's older son who is also active in the Entertainment Industry. More details to follow.

Soundtrack of the Song, Sweet Caroline.
The lighting was too dim to take a video, with the camera that I had with me! I then decided to record a Soundtrack. It was just one of those magic moments! You really don't need a video in order to feel the energy! The room was full of people, and the band played "Sweet Caroline." If you listen carefully you could hear the audience singing,

"Sweet Caroline," Bum Bum Bum;" and then "So Good, So Good, So Good." Everyone had a great time! The high pitched voice that stands out is either Camille, or my wife Marie!
Double Click the "Arrow" below to start the Soundtrack.

The Lloyd Roberts Quintet Will Perform at the Pine Grove Inn.

Our fellow Alumnus, John Cassese, will be playing with most of the members from the original Lloyd Roberts Quintet, at the Pine Grove Inn, in East Patchohue, NY. One band member lives in Florida, and will not be available to play at this event.

This event will be featuring Joe Cherko Jr., a drummer who comes from a family with a musical history. His father also Joe Cherko, was entertaining at many Night Clubs throughout Long Island, in the late 50s and 60s. Different generation, but from the same root. His drum style should sound familiar!

The people that attended "Lloyd Roberts Quintet Reunion 2006," are being contacted! We do expect a fantastic crowd, filled with that perpetual energy, that we have cultivated!

Barring some unforeseen circumstances, my wife Marie and I will be attending. Any Alumni that attend will be welcome to sit with Marie and I; just ask John to point us out.

This is A Really Great Photo of Pat Nangle!

Photo submitted by Camille Pelliccia

Comment From John Cassese:

Wow, what a great shot of Pat. She was a sweet kid. We dated for a least a year in high school. I'd forgotten how lovely a person she was...and still is, I'm sure. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Best, John

Who is This Guy?

I was just rummaging through some old photos, and this one was hidden on the bottom of the box. Hummm Nice Sideburns! Hummm Long Hair! Hummm the hair on his chest looks like a Rain forest! For sure this guy didn't go to Sachem; or did he? We didn't have long hair back then! He looks like one of those guys from the "Rebellious 60s!" Yep! another one of those damned Hippies! I bet he listens to Crosby, Still, Nash, and Young!
YOU BET!
Yahoooo! - Ah Bo Bee!

News From "Way Back Home," in New York
This Saturday July 7, 2007, I went to a Street Fair in Mattituck Long Island. Generally most Street Fairs are the same; vendors selling food and crafts! As I walked through the fair I suddenly began to hear music; I couldn't believe my ears, genuine Bluegrass Music! Wow what were you thinking when you moved down south! We have our own Bluegrass Band on Long Island!

Now! As a genuine Floridian, with a critical ear for blue grass music please respond with your personal critique of our local Bluegrass Band. "Do these guys play good music or what!"

Go to the following web page, click "sounds," and then click, the first tune, "Don't Blame Me," and then listen to the tune called, "Eastbound Freight Train." These guys play so good that I believe that they must actually come from Alabama! Hee Haw.

http://eastboundfreight.com/sounds.html

OK Everyone! Do these guys come from Long Island or Alabama? What's your opinion?

News About Reunion 2007 from Brenda Sichenzia; More Info to follow From Marylin.

I spoke with Marylin last night and she said she would ask you to post the Florida reunion info. It has changed from Disney because even with the discount it would be $160 a night. She knows of townhouses that can accommodate 2 couples or families right on Ormond Beach and that we would have most of the complex to ourselves. It would be $150 a night but split two ways it would only be $75 a night. The complex also has a pool. It is 10 miles to Daytona, a short ride to St. Augustine, and 90 minutes to Disney. Marylin felt that at Disney, we wouldn't have the privacy that we would have as a group at the complex. Marylin owns one of the units and the Manager was willing to accommodate renting for only 3 or 4 days. The target date for this reunion is November 8, 9, 10, and 11. Longer and shorter stays are also available. It would be best if everyone contacted Marylin directly at 407-295-9052 or her email at: marylinc@cfl.rr.com. Thanks again for all your time and effort in this blog. I'm at work so I have to close for now.

Priscilla Is Moving to Florida

I will be giving up this email account as of July 12. After we arrive in Florida, we will have a new account but I don't know that address at this time.

Please keep us in your prayers during the move.

Thanks,
Priscilla

Thanks Joan!

Hi Ben.....Just wanted to let you know how much I'm enjoying the"Blog".....I had a problem accessing it before as I have WEBTV, but now it works great! Also, thanks for all the work and time you devote to it....it's appreciated!! I might have some pictures from the reunion we had in Florida and then the one we had here in Phoenix, AZ in '03. If I find them I'll send them to you. Again.....thanks for the "memories"!!

Photo of Edwina Dugan?

From Camille:

Hi

This is a photo of Edwina Dugan..I think , class of 1961.

Love Camille
(Photo from the Camille Pelliccia collection.)

Comment From Joan:
That definitely is Edwina Dugan. Last time I saw Edwina was at the class reunion at the Bavarian Inn. She was there with her friend (and my old friend), Esther Landhall. Others that stand out in my mind from that time were Kay Miranda-'61, Don Loeffler-'60, Meg Castora-'61 and Judy Weicher-'61.

Joan Lalla Gerson-'61

Ben Vitale Said:
Her face is so familiar; the name isn't! I almost feel that I have met her somewhere other than Sachem; at work, at a Bank, in a Store! I often wonder what planet I was on, while I attended High School! I was obviously preoccupied with something other than the people around me!
