Sachem Reunion 2012 is Starting to Materialize

Bob Morstadt just attended his United States Navy Reunion, and is now in the process of organizing Sachem Reunion 2012. The Navy symbolically transfers leadership power from one ship to another by transferring a Flag. Ironically the Sachem "Flag" which is the "Reunion Banner," has already been transferred to Bob.

The Reunion 2010 Committee has already transferred a few documents that will give the Reunion 2012 Committee a head start! Also! This Blog will be available to help with that reunion. I believe Reunion 2012 will be in Florida.

The second Committee member is Harry Jackson! (Thanks for the info "Anonymous").

I know that Reunion 2012 will be as successful as Reunion 2010.

My brother Tony may attend! Who knows! I may attend! Sounds good to me!

From Tony Perna '62

Ben, Your brother Tony and I were good friends from our Jr. High school days until I graduated in 1962. We were on the same wrestling teams together and also on the football team together. We spent many summers at the Lake during the day working Raynor's Beach then at night at the infamous Tavern on the Lake. I remember talking Tony into doing a skit of the West Side Story for the Black and Gold sing. When he and I walked in the gym for the audition the Mrs. Rocke the girl's Phys. Ed teacher running the skit said" Now there are the two guys I am looking for" I guess we already looked the part? We had lots of fun growing up in lake Ronkonkoma,,,we had the lake,, the high school, the lake diner, tavern on the lake, the shopping center, woolworths fountain ,, Teddy's soda fountain. Don Wooley, gym teacher. It was a time to be enjoyed,,and boy did we ever!!!!

Been following the blog faithfully since I could not make the reunion. I just read your note about Tony and that he lived in FL and the reunion in 2012 will hopefully be here. I would love it and hopefully will get more participation from class of 63 and 64 and 65. I'm in FL for 23 years now and hopefully the reunion can be on the West Coast. I'm in Ft. Myers area.
Thanks again for all your work. I love all the pictures on the blog and did see a few of classmates in St. Pete a few years ago. Looking forward to more news.

Tony Vitale still a Sachem Supporter:

At our Reunion many Alumni were asking about my Brother Tony Vitale.

I talked with Tony on the telephone and was informed that he has been faithfully following the progress of our Reunion by reading our Blog. I was surprised to hear that he considers himself to be one of our biggest Cheerleaders!

Although unable to attend our Reunion, he was certainly involved from his vantage point in Florida!

When Tony asked, who was asking about him, I must admit that I went blank!

As a member of the Committee, I was so busy addressing Reunion issues that the entire weekend flew by at the speed of light. I can recall Bill Monteverde giving me my Name tag at the "Icebreaker Event;" and I can recall Camille Pelliccia symbolically taking a photo of an empty table, after everyone departed from our last Reunion Event, the Sunday Breakfast at the Island Grill. All in between was a casualty of Information Overload!

Tony will make every effort to attend our next reunion in 2012, which will take place in Florida!

Will those of you who wanted to know how my brother Tony was doing, please reply to this article with your witty comments! Ha! Ha!.

Mike Mahoney:
I have followed the Sachem blog for quite some time now and I did ask about your brother at some point. I played MANY games of football after H.S. and I remember Tony and Dave St.Louis playing together and really terrorizing the opposing quarterbacks with their relentless charges through the line. We had some really good teams, a lot of great games, and he was quite the athlete. I remember at some point, we led Dave and Tony onto the field in chains leading them with a piece of raw meat to frighten the other team. That was probably one of the few games we lost but it was a lot of fun. Give him my regards and thanks for your time and effort with the blog.

Mike
