Del Satins to perform at the Patchogue Theatre
Patchogue, NY
Ben Vitale

The Patchogue council 725, of the Knights of Columbus, is sponsoring a special performance of the famous Del Satins, to benefit the New York State Veterans Home in Stony Brook. This performance is   special, because the lead singer Stan Zizka is your neighbor! Wow! He lives in Patchogue Village.

The Del Satins worked with Dion originally from Dion and the Bellmonts, to record “Runaround Sue,” and “ Donna the Prima Donna.” I have found that both the young and the old are in agreement; this is a show that “should not be missed.”

Date:   Sunday, October 27, 2013

Time:   3PM

Place:   Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts, 71 East Main St., Patchogue, NY, 11772

Tickets start at $18 dollars, and are available via telephone, Web, or at the Patchogue Theatre Box office.

Flash Mob Gathering Cancelled

(CANCELLED) Sachem 1959 - 1965+ Alumni Group, long island Social Gathering is CANCELLED.
Mini Flash Mob Social Gathering that was scheduled for Thursday Sept 12, 2013, at 6:00 PM had to be cancelled because of inclement weather. Oh well... We never got to have our Flash Mob Gathering!

I went to Smith Point just in case an alumni flew in from Hawaii, just to attend our little social. Cancelling was a good call, The band was cancelled, and the Restaurant did not open. Everyone was concerned about the storms. Wonderful; no alumni from Hawaii! LOL.

I did take a video of Smith Point Beach.
From Deanna Mauch:
Would loved to have been there.  Went dancing a few summers ago with family at that very spot. Thanks for the memory.

Sachemites Bocce Ball Tournament
Ben Vitale

Sachem alumni John Vitale and Ben Vitale challenged two members of the internationally renowned Italian Bocce Ball Squadra, over the Labor Day weekend.  Frank and Larry are two seasoned Bocce Ball players from Italy.

At the beginning of the game I found myself treating the Bocce Ball like a Bowling Ball; that didn’t work very well. Half way through the game the score was 11 to 1 in favor of the Italian team; the prognosis of winning was grim! LOL.

My brother john and I noticed that the Italian team members were skilled at putting both a vertical, and horizontal spin on the Bocce Ball. Ah Ha! That’s the secret! Re-cycling some of the techniques from  Baseball, John and I finally managed to get a few additional points.

Tensions built as we approached the end of the game. John and I used some Baseball throwing techniques that we had learned from watching Joe DiMagio, in Ebbets field,  Brooklyn, NY. The Italian team ultimately won with a score of 21 to 19. Not bad for two Sachem High School Alumni, from Lake Ronkonkoma, that were born in Brooklyn, NY. LOL

On September, 28, 2013, Bocce Ball Champion Frank Bosco, together with another team mate Carmine Franzese, go on to win another Bocce ball competition, the "Saint Liberata International Bocce Ball Championship;" which was held in Patchogue, NY.

Frank told me that some day he will show me the Bocce Ball trophies in his showcase!

I am now thoroughly convinced that the 19 points that John and I got in our original competition with Frank and Larry, were no accident; Frank and Larry gave them to us! LOL
