Hi All
I just ran across Terry Duarte and Pat Anderson, somewhere in Ciber Space. They are both listed under the Sachem Class of 59, at the Alumni Site (link below)
Terry lives in Morrison Florida, and Pat lives in Aginley Florida. Who knows, they could be your neighbors!

Does anyone have any contact information for Pat or Terry; it would be great if we could find them, and put them in contact with our group!

How old was Paul Albert when this photo was taken?
Is the teacher Vince Lombardi?
*
(Left click the photo to make it larger!)
Pat Prince Rath Said:
I don't know how old Paul was, but the teacher is Mr. Reddy (English) and if memory serves correctly he married Ms. McGann.
I believe we were still attending classes at Gatelot!!!!
Good job Ben, thanks for being there for us.
Pat (Prince) Rath
Class of 1960
Richard Williams Said:
PAUL ALBERT AND I GREW UP IN HOLBROOK. HE MAY HAVE BEEN A YEAR YOUNGER THAN ME. SO IF PAT IS CORRECT ABOUT GATELOT AVENUE THEN I WOULD PUT HIS AGE AT 14-15. KEVIN BAACK OUGHT TO KNOW; I THINK PAUL LIVED NEAR KEVIN. ALWAYS GREAT HEARING FROM Y'ALL, RICHARD WILLIAMS
Kevin Baack Said:
Paul Albert lived about 1/2 mile from me. We used to play ball in the empty lot across from his house. I lost count of the number of times I got yelled at by my Mother for coming home late for dinner, because we got so wrapped up in the ball games.Anyway, that does look like Gatelot Ave. The Class of 1960 only attended Sachem for the last 3 years, as the building didn't officially open until Sept 1957. Holbrook students attended Gatelot from Sept 1954 to June 1957. Our first 6 years were spent at Union Ave School in Holbrook. Assuming Paul was born in 1943, like I was, he could have been anywhere from 11 to 14 when the picture was taken. If I had to guess I would think he would have been 13 or 14.Why does it matter, anyway?

"Humm!" "Ben is really flipping out!" "Must be the onset of Dementia!" "He actually forgot that this is a Sachem Blog!" " I don't believe it!"
*
Actually I wrote this article, because the PJHS Class of 58, does have a direct connection to our alumni group! One person that I met did indeed help almost all of us at one time or another, and the other graduate of PJHS may have played at many of our Social Events. Wow! Small world!
*
As many of you already know, I am still working as a DJ, here on Long Island! On September 6, 2008 I played for the PJHS Class of 58, in a catering hall located in Miller Place. "So what's the connection to PJHS?" For one, Bob Turoff, who is a Contributing Editor, to this Blog, did not attend Sachem; he is a graduate of the PJHS, Class of 1958! Patty Perkins DeAleva, Richard Williams, and I all went to Port Jefferson High School for three Years, and then transfered to Sachem in our Senior year. Any of the above listed Sachem Alumni, could have attended the PJHS Reunion, and met many people that the have not seen in many years.
I'm trying to create some suspense; do you ever reveal your "down cards" when you play Poker? Are you curious about how "another school's 50th Reunion went? "
OK! I was amazed at the parallel between our Alumni Group, and the PJHS Alumni Group; it was the "Spirit!" Unlike most groups, comprised of people in our age group, the PJHS Alumni Group, brought new meaning to the word Party! The Port Jefferson Group, danced non-stop for about three hours! This is certainly not the norm for people in their sixties! The group was amazing! A room full of twenty year old kids, would have had trouble keeping up with this group! I felt the same energy from the PJHS group, that emanates from our Alumni Group! This is indeed very special!
"OK, enough for the suspense!" I met Betty Schloeh, PJHS Class of 57, who worked at Sachem as a secretary, starting in 1958. Betty helped many of us with our many official matters and problems! Betty married Tony Bonicioli, also a PJHS graduate, who played with the Eddie Levay Band! I'm sure that you remember Eddie! So, I would bet Tony played at many of our Sachem functions. Both Tony and Betty look great! It was really nice to see them!
And now the unexpected surprise! Tony and Betty sent me a few precious Sachem Photos. An article featuring these photos is forthcoming!
Now all we need is a Reunion Committee to organize our next reunion!
Tony and Betty! "Thank you so much" for the photos!
Tony and Betty live in Orlando Fl.
Betty and I went to Port Jefferson High School in 56 and 57. Betty started at Sachem in 58; I went to Sachem in 59. When I saw Betty at Sachem I said to myself,"she looks like Betty that went to PJHS!" I have one serious flaw! If you pull someone out of the context that I have become accustomed to seeing them; they become total strangers! So when I saw Betty in Sachem, I never even bothered to ask if she was indeed the "Betty" from PJHS! I just said "nope! Not possible!"
I am forwarding this letter to Tony and Betty; just look in the CC: Line for their Email Addresses!
Thanks for writing back. Don and I live in Orlando also and I know that Don would like to see Tony. I don't know if he remembers Don or not.
Hi Tony, if you are out there we would like to hear from you.
Oh Ben... that is so nice. I am assuming you sent that to Betty and Tony, right? Also, if you have any way of knowing if there are plans for a reunion for the Sachem Class of 1979, would you let me know. My daughter has been looking for information (and a few friends that she lost contact with).
Thanks a bunch.

Well, after a nice phone chat to clue her in about your blog, Ben, she is most excited to join in. She can be reached at deanna.maucher@gmail.com

There may still be some hope for the structure itself. It would be wonderful if it was again turned into a Pavilion reminiscent of it's history! If it ultimately becomes part of an existing park, the entire community wins!
It is certainly an obscene solution to tear down this Historic Structure, and turn it into a boat Ramp!

The intent of this Blog is to promote congenial interaction between Sachem Alumni, and friends. Positive articles about our past and present experiences are desired. Feel free to write an article about yourself, and your family. An article about your vacation that includes a critique of that venue is also desired. Please include Photos! Just be careful not to include any statement that may be libelous, demeaning, facetious, or derogatory. We get demeaning and derogatory input every day of our lives, weather we like it or not; just check the local media!
The intent of this blog is to create a refuge from input which may be considered unpleasant!
My Father told me not to put too much emphasis in friends, because they are transitory! “If you manage to maintain contact with just one friend for a lifetime, you would be very fortunate!” We maintain contact with sixty friends! How fortunate are we?

Alumnus John Cassese has been working with Lloyd Arrasate, with the intention of re-organizing the Lloyd Roberts Quintet. As you may recall, the band had a mini reunion at the Flaming Hearth in Farmingville, in June of 2006. All of the Sachem Alumni that attended this Concert felt 20 years younger after their performance, including me. There is something special about experiencing the same music, by the same band, that you "so enjoyed" when you were a teenager! The band actually rehearsed in Florida for that "one time performance."
Lloyd has made numerous attempts to book the Flaming Hearth, which is the Old "Country Tavern," for a final concert for us to enjoy. Unfortunately, that may not happen! The band is now practicing together, and if a final concert actually materializes, it might be at a different location.
When and if this Final Reunion Concert actually manages to get scheduled, I will notify our entire group via Email.
I went down to the place that the Band was playing and made a video for you to enjoy! Close your eyes, and the Seventies will come alive again!!

Hi Ben,
Thanks for the news from back home. Are there any plans yet for a 50 year Sachem reunion?
Thanks

News From Back Home on Long Island
Tornado Hits East Moriches, on June 9, 2008.
Flood in Greenport
*
I often go to the town of Greenport, to enjoy the scenery, visit the local stores, and go "People Watching!" Today Marie and I visited a Candy Store in Greenport, and purchased two pounds of Chocolate Truffles! Were Bad! I just love Chocolate!
*
When the storm hit, I was across the street from Claudios Restaurant, near the water. Minutes earlier the tornado had hit East Moriches! My wife and I took cover in the entrance to a store, under the canape. The first photo was taken minutes after the storm started. (Left click the photo to make it larger)
*

*
In the second photo the wind was gusting to about 75 miles per hour. The rain was coming down so hard that the structures behind Claudios disappeared in the downpour! As you can see in the photo, the water is about two inches high on the sidewalk.

*
We were having a great time enjoying the spectacle! I was really surprised to see that I was not the only person who was taking photos! Today I saw "the best in people," materialize during this adverse situation.
*
People were frolicking in the flooded streets, while others took photographs of them! They were soaking wet, but everyone was having a spirited time! A Stretch Limo Driver was helping stranded people get to their cars. I saw what Long Islanders were made of!
*
After the storm was over I photographed a section of the street, which was representative of the condition, of all of the streets in Greenport; the water covered the sidewalks as well as the road!
*

*
Look at the YouTube Video to see the condition of the streets in East Moriches! (Click the link below)

I think it's Al Biscardi with Pat Nangle....he was in the class of '62. Linda Belden told us about the blog. Great job - fun to catch up.
